Anthony Anton is the president and CEO of the Washington Hospitality Association. He interacts one-on-one with restaurateurs & hoteliers to determine their challenges, develop solutions and manage the efforts of the 6,500-member organization.

Anthony brings more than a decade of government affairs and association management experience to Washington Hospitality. He guided the association's government affairs business from 1995 to 2001 when he left to manage The Boeing Company's state relations in Olympia. Coming back to the association in 2004 as vice president, Anthony successfully marshaled the industry's efforts to support important legislation and redoubled grassroots lobbying efforts.

Anthony's family has been in the restaurant business for more than 60 years, lending him a broad understanding of industry issues. A Sumner native, Anthony graduated from Washington State University in 1991, with a degree in political science.

In his ten years as CEO, the association has more than doubled in revenue, had its highest retention rates and member satisfaction rates in its history, expanded and strengthened its programs to support small business and become the primary source of information to Washington hospitality businesses.

The Future of Hospitality & Foodservice

Mark Freeman is responsible for the Global Dining portfolio at Microsoft. These award-winning programs feature many advancements in Café, Beverage/Vending, Catering, Retail and Market venues. Mark's tenure at Microsoft spans 12 years, where he has successfully launched such programs as Local Branded restaurants to the Cafés, The Commons restaurant and retail complex, full-service celebrity chef restaurants (including John Howie's in.gredients), and most recently urban farming initiatives (including hydroponic growing systems) into the Dining program. Before coming to Microsoft, Mark led the Management Advisory Services department for the H. David Porter Consulting firm based in Baltimore, Maryland; and prior to that he was the Global Program Manager for Dining Services with the Hewlett Packard Company.

Mark has received numerous awards, including the International Foodservice Manufacturers Association (IFMA) Operator of the Year Silver Plate in 2012, Doctorate of Foodservice from the National Association of Foodservice Equipment Manufacturers (NAFEM), Food Management Magazine's best concept award multiple times (2010, 2014, 2016 and 2017) and was 2013 President of the Society for Hospitality and Foodservice Management (SHFM), an industry-leading association.

Anna Boone

Anna Boone, Senior Manager of Local Government Affairs for Seattle, came to the Association in January 2017 with a decade of experience in Washington politics. Prior to this role, helped establish the local government affairs practice at a local public affairs firm and represented clients on regulatory and labor issues in front of local governments. Anna also has a political campaign background that includes running Congressman Norm Dicks’ 2010 reelection campaign.

John Lane

Director of Local Government Affairs, Washington Hospitality Association

 John Lane is the Director of Local Government Affairs. He has a law degree from Seattle University and extensive public policy experience, including serving as a Washington state assistant attorney general and as the Office of Financial Management’s legislative and legal counsel. John has also served as a senior policy advisor to Gov. Jay Inslee on public safety and government operations and as the executive policy advisor to Gov. Christine Gregoire.

Andy Cook

Andy Cook is the Washington Hospitality Association’s Communications & Media Consultant. He is a 30-year Hospitality Veteran and the cohost of the DineNW radio show/podcast. Andy represents the Washington Hospitality Association as a liaison with variety groups including the Washington Tourism Alliance, Seattle’s Ethnic Business Coalition, Washington State Bowling Proprietor’s Association, & Full Service Worker’s Alliance.

David Yusen

David began working at Heavy Restaurant Group in 2004 as a Service Manager at their Purple Café and Wine Bar location in Kirkland.


In 2008 he transitioned out of the restaurants and became Director of Marketing & Public Relations to oversee Heavy Restaurant Group’s three restaurant locations. At present Heavy has nine locations as well as a catering department, event space, and bakery. He oversees all marketing, promotions, media relations, social media, and community outreach for his company.


David took part in the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce ‘Young Executive Program’, he has been a member of the Visit Bellevue Washington Advisory Committee since its inception in 2010 and currently serves as its Chairman. In addition, he currently sits on the board of the Woodinville Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Visit Woodinville tourism committee.

Catharine Morisset

The #MeToo movement has pushed workplace sexual harassment in the national spotlight. With today's cultural climate, all employers should reevaluate company policies and practices to prevent harassment, to provide meaningful opportunities to report issues, and how to respond effectively to complaints. For the hospitality industry, this includes acknowledging unique challenges to the workplace environment. In that context, this session will identify common situations that open the door to sexual harassment and discuss preventive solutions to prevent and defend claims.

Catharine Morisset is a litigation partner in the firm's Seattle office, representing local and national employers in litigation in state and federal courts, on appeal, and also before the EEOC and similar state agencies in all aspects of workplace law, such as ADA, ADEA, FLSA, FMLA, FCRA, NLRA, Title VI, UTAS, and similar state laws. From the outset, Catherine works with clients to develop a strategy that leads to successful resolutions, whether it is a meticulous plaintiff's deposition, motion to dismiss, favorable mediation, or trial success. 

Catharine believes in working closely with clients to address workplace issues proactively and as a valued partner to develop a successful workforce. She uses her litigation experience to work closely with clients across all industries to provide effective preventative counseling and workforce training. This includes regularly advising and training clients to drug testing, background checks, hiring, diversity, wage-hour compliance, leaves, noncompetition agreements, reasonable accommodations, investigations, employment agreements, discipline, terminations, and mass layoffs. Catharine is an experienced management and workforce trainer, sharing her legal knowledge and experience in an accessible, dynamic, and interactive manner. 

As park of her commitment to fostering successful workplaces, Catharine is an active memer of the Socient for Human Resourse Management (SHRM). She is an acoomplied speaker, who is often invited to address members across the state and the Pacific Northwest in all areas of workplace law. Catharine proudly demonstrates her commitment to advancing women in the legal profession as an Ambassador to the firm's Women's Initiative and Leadership Coucil.
